Experience the Work of Texas Artist G. Harvey

Purchasing a piece of art is an exciting experience and one that many people remember for many years to come. For anyone who is a fan of the artist G. Harvey, DeSola Glass invites you to visit our gallery space, where we house one of the largest collections of G. Harvey prints you can find in the state of Texas. Harvey is considered to be among the most revered living artists of our time. We are proud to support this national treasure from nearby San Antonio.

G. Harvey's Early Influences

Gerald Harvey Jones grew up in the heart of Texas and was inspired by the vast landscapes and gorgeous skies of that rugged setting. As a child, his father and grandfather regaled him with tales of the Old West, from cattle herding to the gold rush. Those scenes undoubtedly had an impact on Harvey, and his later work would feature imagery of the Old West and the Texas landscape.

G. Harvey is well known for his use of reflective light on water, whether that is a rain-slicked city street or a rural stream. His skies are also a thing of beauty, rich in depth and color, yet never overpowering the other elements of any given piece.

He went on to earn a degree from North Texas State University and took a position teaching at UT Austin. He soon realized that his true passion was in creating, rather than teaching, and so he left that job to pursue an art career. Success soon followed — he has been a prolific and renowned artist ever since.

Themes and Specialties

G. Harvey is known for paintings that evoke a feeling of connection to a different place and time, with a deeper undertone of the connections between people that span those boundaries. His work includes scenes of the Civil War, quiet moments on horseback and visions of coming home to a rustic yet warm and inviting retreat.
