D-Day 

D-Day was the day during World War II that the Allied troops invaded the beach in Normandy, France on June 6, 1944, to fight the Nazis. Thousands of ships and aircraft participated in the attack, code-named Operation Overlord. The attack included more than 160,000 troops, over half of which were American soldiers. The Allies were victorious in battle, and this marked a turning point in the war, leading to an ultimate Allied victory over the Nazis. 

Flag Day 

We celebrate Flag Day on June 14 because that date marks the anniversary of when our American flag was first adopted in 1777. It is a perfect day to recognize the military because it is also the day that our armed forces were established in 1775. Since its adoption, our flag has gone through a remarkable 27 official variations.
