5 Inexpensive Ways to Spruce Up Your Living Room for the Holidays

5 Inexpensive Ways to Spruce Up Your Living Room for the Holidays

The holidays are on their way, which means a lot of friends and relatives will pass through your home. Why not impress them by freshening up your living room? Here are five inexpensive ways you can decorate this holiday season.

Indoor Holiday Wreaths

Wreaths add a festive feeling to any room for a relatively low price. Consider using a variety of colors and different sizes to create more visual interest in your space. Try hanging wreaths in front of your windows using decorative ribbons tied to your curtain rods. Not only does it look impressive, but it will save you from having to drag out the hammer. Many homeowners find a large wreath over the mantle completes the look of the room.

A Framed Holiday Greeting

Framed holidays greetings are inexpensive decorations that not only looks elegant but are unique enough for people to remember. It is easy to create your own by using an everyday picture frame, decorative paper for the background, paint and a stencil of fancy lettering. If you want, you can decorate your frame with bows or greenery for an extra special touch. A framed holiday greeting also makes a very thoughtful gift.

Candles make wonderful mantelpiece toppers. This year, trade in the traditional garland and replace it with several beautiful candlesticks in an assortment of sizes and designs.

Candles and Candlesticks

Candles make wonderful mantelpiece toppers. This year, trade in the traditional garland and replace it with several beautiful candlesticks in an assortment of sizes and designs. Tie everything together by using green and red candles. Adding vases with fresh white or red flowers, like tulips or poinsettias, make the fireplace look complete.

Remember the Staircase

Homeowners with staircases leading into their living room areas need to take full advantage of the many holiday decorating opportunities that a staircase offers them. Try going the traditional route and wrap a garland along the banister. If you want, add a strand or two of twinkling lights to create an even more festive look. Don't forget to tie a few oversized red bows to the spindles. Hanging stocking from the banister completes the look.

Wrap Your Coffee Table

Create a large present right in the middle of your living room by tying your coffee table with festive ribbons and a bow. Choose colors for the ribbon which are similar to your coffee table to be sure that they match the rest of your room. Bring the project to the next level by setting up a beautiful centerpiece using seasonal decorations.
