The new year is right around the corner and if you are looking for an achievable New Year's resolution, just open the bathroom door. When your bathroom is clean with everything put away and easy to find, it can make getting ready for the day almost enjoyable. It is not difficult to take care of your bedroom, but it does take some effort. In the end, you will find it is worth it. Here are four tips to help you organize quickly and efficiently.
1. Set a Schedule and Stick to it
There are a million other things you would rather do than scrub the sink or put away the towels. That is why it is so important to choose a day and a time to tackle your bathroom. Many people find dedicating only one hour each week is enough, but this depends on how many bathrooms you have and how disorganized they typically get. Most people chose to organize their bathrooms on the weekend, but you can pick any time that works best for you.
2. Straighten Your Medicine Cabinets
It is amazing what you can find in some people's medicine cabinets — expired prescriptions, leaking bottles, and dried-out, half-used tubes of toothpaste. If you haven't gone through your medicine cabinet in awhile, do it as soon as possible. Throw out anything which is expired, dirty or broken. After tossing anything useless, find a new home for items which you do not use at least once a week, including burn creams, cough drops, and seasonal allergy medication.
3. Take a Second Look at Your Shower Caddy
Shampoos, conditioners, moisturizers, facial cleansers, body washes and so many more. There are lots of products you need when you take a shower but are you using your limited in-shower storage most effectively? If you cram your shower with various brands of the same type of product, perhaps everyone who uses the same bathroom can agree on just one brand? Is that not going to happen? Well, you can always use a personal shower tote to bring to the shower with you.
4. Make Use of all Your Available Space
It is true — you can never have enough storage. That is why it makes sense to use every free inch in your bathroom. Try installing shelves or a cabinet above the toilet to add tons of additional space. Adding some rustic looking jars can provide more storage options while also adding some style to your bathroom. Don't forget about using the space you already have more effectively. Most homeowners don't use the space under the sink because it can get wet. Buy a few waterproof containers, and you have the perfect place to keep all your hair supplies. Hang hooks on the back of your door so everyone has a place for their towel.
